April

Ok... is it just me, or did the month of April just fly on by?! Dang... I can't believe it's already spring, almost May and that we've been living in Texas for 6 months now!

Time flies when you're having fun... or just stinkin' busy!

Enjoying a Day Off

I have been a nervous wreck lately.

Over the past two weeks I have taken two teaching tests I needed in order to get my Texas License. The first one I took on a Thursday and got my results the next day (I passed!!). The second one, I took on a Friday and it was much much harder... I knew that I'd have to wait all weekend to find out the results, but I was not anticipating waiting all the way through Monday as well. Talk about a compulsive phone checker... yep, that was me, all day yesterday and this morning. Well thankful the fateful email actually came mid morning and.... I passed!!!!! Now I can relax... and breathe... and sleep.... and read a normal book... and quit being a nervous wreck! Sigh.........................

Speaking of teaching... college is expensive ya'll!!

Dang.. And those student loans come like clockwork each month.
Today... with the help of my money savvy hubby, I paid off yet another student loan!!!
Once again... I can breathe a little easier.
Until the others come next month.
But one at a time, one at a time.

All in all, I'd say it was a productive day off.

It's been too long...

Looking back on my last post, from May 2012 mind you, I realize it's been far too long. So much has happened, so much has changed and there is so much to catch up on.

Here's the break down:

July 2012:  Steve and I celebrated our 1 year marriage anniversary and our 3 year together anniversary. Time sure flies when you're having fun. We spent a week in Puerto Vallarta Mexico celebrating, exploring and enjoying time together.

August/September 2012: Steve and I made a big decision. We decided to make a move... to Texas. We signed papers and put our house in Washington on the market and began to pack up our lives. We had the support from those around us-- after they got over the shock of it all-- and we celebrated and enjoyed our last weeks as residents of Washington. Before we knew it, the time had come to pack up a moving truck and take off into the sunset.. actually it was sunrise, but you get the picture. It took a whole day, and lots of helping hands to get all of our belonging into a very large moving truck. We said our goodbyes, gave our hugs and kisses and slept on the floor of our house for the last time.

It took us 4 days, lots of stops and even more laughs to get from Washington  to Texas. We encountered moving truck problems, lots of construction, bad weather, lots of thunder and lightening storms, small parking lots, walkie talkie battery problems, dog injuries.. you name it! It was definitely an adventure that Steve and I will never forget and would never change.

The weekend that we arrived at our rental house in Holliday Texas, it rained.. and rained... and rained. Yes, I think we did, in fact, bring rain with us to Texas. We spent the first night on the floor in sleeping bags with no electricity, no air, no water... oh and have I mentioned that after 4 days of traveling, we were exhausted?! Luckily with a few helping hands, Steve's dad and younger brother, we got the truck unloaded the next day and even got the power turned on and water flowing! Ahh... nothing like a cool shower after all that unpacking.

October 2012: As we settled in more, we became comfortable in our little town. We watched our dogs bask in the sun, run in the back yard (who knew they'd have so much fun finally having a yard-- proud mama moment!) We began the job search and I landed a great gig at the local (and only.. yes I said only..) Starbucks in Wichita Falls. Steve dabbled in a few odd jobs while we tried to find our way.

November/December 2012: Steve ended up landing a job at UPS for the holiday season helping load trucks and deliver packages. It brought along some strange hours but a few good paychecks. We had lots of COLD nights and days here in Texas... and even some snow! We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with each other.. I cooked the whole works and we ate leftovers for DAYS! We hung lights on our house and decorated the tree to get in the spirit of Christmas. We took a trip up north to Pampa Texas to visit some of Steve's family the weekend before Christmas. It was so much fun! We even loaded up the dogs and took them with us. We were both lucky enough to have Christmas day off so we spent the SNOWY day curled up together watching Christmas movies and admiring the beautiful snow outside. Perfection.

January/February 2013: I honestly don't even remember if we stayed up late enough to actually ring in the new year... I highly doubt it. We're old when it comes to staying up late... January and February brought a lot of job changes for Steve and some unsettling news for myself. We pushed through like we always do and planned to take March on with our endless strength and courage.

March 2013: This month will be one that we will never forget, for many reasons. Steve ended up getting a plethora of job offers. He ended up with a great job at Patterson Dealership in Wichita Falls and has been there for a little over a week now. He is really enjoying himself and learning the ropes.
I on the other hand had to take some time off of work to undergo some surgery in mid March. (As most of you know I am quite the private person and don't wish to share tons of details.. but I will say that the surgery had to do with female anatomy and things turned out well and I am doing ok.)
March also marked the passing of my great grandmother, Isabel Zenner. She was a little over a month shy of being 100 years old, an incredible feat if I really take the time to sit back and think about it.

Needless to say, Steve and I are very much looking forward to a fresh, new month...

April 2013:  What will you have in store....?! Please let it be something bright and cheerful!

If you took the time to read all of this, I promise I am appreciative. And I also promise to not let this much time go by and to not write such a lengthy post... oh who am I kidding... I can't promise that. Life is life. I'll see ya when I see ya. ;-)

Love.
